WaPo on Franklin Raines, former CEO of FNMA

The Washington Post has a puff piece entitled "On the Outside Now, Watching Fannie Falter" on Franklin Raines, former CEO of Fannie Mae and Obama advisor "on mortgage and housing policy matters"- he of the 6.3 BILLION dollar accounting scandal.


One quote in particular stood out to me:


"It's like a Dickensian novel," Raines said, who insisted he broke no laws in settling with the government last April.


That was so finely parsed as to be almost minced:


It's not against the law to settle with the government. DUH.
